An account has been established at Freedom Credit Union called the “Western MA Puerto Rico Relief Fund” where people can safely donate to Hurricane Maria relief efforts in Puerto Rico. All of the money collected will go to organizations working directly with victims of the hurricane. “Freedom’s Board of Directors recognizes the heartbreaking situation in Puerto Rico and we will be matching donations to the fund, up to $5,000,” said Glenn Welch, President and CEO of Freedom.
Edward Nuñez, Assistant Vice President of Commercial Lending at Freedom, is a member of the Western Massachusetts United for Puerto Rico coalition that is leading this effort. The coalition consists of political leaders, nonprofit organizations, business owners, religious leaders and community activists that will be organizing donation drives and fundraisers and working with the government of Puerto Rico to send aid where it is most needed.
If anyone would like to donate to this fund, please visit any of our 10 ten branches, donate online via PayPal, or make your check payable to “Western MA Puerto Rico Relief Fund” and mail your donation to:
