Join our Cherish the Children 2018 campaign!
Every child deserves a special delivery for the holidays—and once again, we’re helping to make it happen!
From Nov. 23 through Dec. 22, Freedom will host our 11th annual “Cherish the Children” campaign in cooperation with the local Area Offices of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF). Equipped with “wish lists” of names, ages and gift ideas—as well as the support of our dedicated communities—we aim to provide gifts for a total of 700 children in need.
“Over the years, the unselfish acts of generosity from our members, employees and credit union partners have brightened the holidays for many area children,” said our President and CEO, Glenn Welch. “We have tremendous potential to make a difference again this holiday season and to bring even more smiles to local families.”
Take a tag, bring joy to a child
From the wish lists, we’ve produced a tag for each child, which we’ll place on holiday trees at all Freedom branches excluding the Roger L. Putnam Vocational Technical Academy. We encourage employees and members to choose a tag (or two, or more!) from a tree, purchase the item the child has requested, bring it to the branch (unwrapped and with tag attached) and place it under the tree.
Monetary donations are also welcome, as our own “elves” will be rounding out the effort with a festive shopping spree.
“Just before the holidays, we’ll be purchasing gifts at local stores that provide us a discount for this very meaningful endeavor,” Welch said. “We make every effort to ensure every child receives a present, and one they truly will enjoy.”
