What makes a happy holiday? To a child in need, it could be a single, special gift—and you could be the one to provide it.
From Nov. 29 through Dec. 23, Freedom will host our 12th annual Cherish the Children campaign in cooperation with the local Area Offices of the Massachusetts Department of Children and Families (DCF). Equipped with “wish lists” of names, ages and gift ideas—as well as the support of our dedicated communities—we aim to provide gifts for a total of 600 children in need.
“During the holiday season, every child deserves a present chosen just for them,” said our President and CEO, Glenn Welch. “Children’s wishes are often simple ones, and our generous members, employees and credit union partners are committed to helping ensure those holiday wishes come true.”
Help Make Their Season Bright
From the wish lists, we’ve produced a tag for each child, which we’ll place on holiday trees at all Freedom branches excluding the Roger L. Putnam Vocational Technical Academy. We encourage employees and members to choose a tag (or two, or more!) from a tree, purchase the item the child has requested, bring it to the branch (unwrapped and with tag attached) and place it under the tree.
Monetary donations are also welcome, as our own “elves” will be going on a festive shopping spree at local stores that provide us a discount for this very meaningful campaign. We have made a tremendous difference in the lives of area families over the years, and we look forward to another successful season!
