Did you know there are more than 17,500 homeless in Massachusetts who struggle to find heat during the harsh winter months? Do you know how simple it is to give the gift of warmth to someone in need?
During the month of January, Freedom is joining credit unions across the state participating in the annual clothing and blanket drive benefitting the Massachusetts Coalition for the Homeless.
This year, new and warm clothing, hats, coats, gloves and scarves will be welcome donations, in addition to new blankets. FCU employees and members can make a difference by donating at any one of the credit union’s ten branches. Last year, 20 credit unions collected more than 800 blankets, and have donated more than 5,700 blankets since 2011 to those in need throughout the state.
Combatting the frigid winter with a warm gesture
“No one should have to worry how they are going to stay warm during the harsh winter months,” commented our President and CEO, Glenn Welch. “Freedom Credit Union is pleased to partner with other local area credit unions, who are all doing our part to assist the homeless population of western Mass. with the gift of warmth.”
We hope you’ll consider stopping by any one of our ten branches to make a donation that will change someone’s life.
