Freedom Credit Union continues to hold a food drive to benefit the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts. All branches/departments, except for the Putnam Academy Branch, will collect food items between now and September 30th. Members are welcome to bring non-perishable food items to any of our branches and we will also accept cash donations.
ONE IN EIGHT local residents now faces hunger, with the impact hitting families and seniors hardest. Out of the 235,000 people who receive food assistance through The Food Bank each year, more than 27% are children.
Every dollar donated to The Food Bank equals nine dollars of food!!!
The most needed food items for creating meals include:
- peanut butter and jelly
- rice and canned or dry beans
- spaghetti and canned spaghetti sauce
- canned or boxed pasta/rice meals and canned vegetables
- canned or instant soups/stews and rice
- dry cereal/oatmeal and canned fruit
Any non-perishable food item will be accepted but please do not bring food in glass jars.
With so many residents in the Pioneer Valley experiencing food insecurity, we appreciate anything you can do to help your fellow neighbors in their time of need!
