Toy donations accepted through Dec. 9, and cash donations through Dec. 29
During the month of December, Freedom Credit Union is collecting donations of toys and cash at all its branches throughout western Massachusetts in support of Western Mass Toys for Tots, which covers Berkshire, Franklin, Hampshire and Hampden counties. New, unwrapped toys can be dropped off Friday, November 24, through Saturday, December 9, and cash donations through Friday, December 29.
“There is nothing so magical as seeing the holidays through the eyes of a child,” said Freedom Credit Union President Glenn Welch. “We want to make them shine this season, and we know we can count on our members, staff and community to help. Last year alone, Western Mass Toys for Tots distributed books and toys to 36,762 children throughout the region. Together, we can help spread that joy even further in 2023.”
The mission of the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation is to assist the U.S. Marine Corps in providing tangible signs of hope to disadvantaged children at Christmas. In addition to the toys, funds raised are used for things such as supplementing the collections of local Toys for Tots campaigns, defraying the costs of the campaigns, and providing promotional and support materials.
While donations are accepted at all Freedom branches during normal business hours, the community is also encouraged to visit their local branch to help “stuff” the Freedom Van on the following dates and times:
- Greenfield Branch, 74 Main Street: Monday, December 4, 9 to 10 a.m.
- Springfield Cooley Street Branch, 296 Cooley Street: Wednesday, December 6, 9 to 10 a.m.
- Springfield Main Office Branch, 1976 Main Street, Friday, December 8, 9 to 10 a.m.
