In what could be the largest national data breach ever, the social security numbers of millions, and possibly billions of Americans have been accessed. The company that was breached, National Public Data, based in Florida, collects data to provide background checks on consumers and job applicants. The worst-case scenario is that hackers can access everyone’s social security numbers.
