Some of our members have received fraudulent phone calls that appear to come from the Freedom Credit Union phone number. These calls are not from us—this is a technique called caller ID spoofing, where scammers disguise their identity to appear legitimate.
Rest assured: your personal and financial information with us remains safe and secure. These spoofed calls are an external scam attempt and do not reflect a breach of our systems.
If you receive a call, email or text from someone who claims to be Freedom Credit Union and is asking for personal information such as your account number, Social Security number, passwords or verification codes, please hang up immediately and call us.
We will never call, email or text you to ask for your full PIN, online banking password or one-time passcodes, nor would we ever pressure you to take immediate action over the phone. Do not provide any personal or account information to unsolicited callers. If you have any concerns about the legitimacy of such a call, hang up and call us directly at (413) 739-6961 or (800) 821-0160.
Unfortunately, spoofing scams and other deepfakes are on the rise as scammers become increasingly sophisticated. Vigilance is key, as is knowing how to protect yourself. Please regularly review our online Security & Fraud Center, and reach out if you have any concerns.
